Introduction to the main testing items of FCCL

Whether FCCL materials can meet production needs cannot only be determined by the manufacturer’s test report. When purchasing FCCL materials, a series of experiments must be conducted to test and prove them. Usually, for FPC factories, the following experiments are required to test whether FCCL can meet our needs:

1.Heat resistance test

Testing equipment: high-temperature small tin furnace

Testing conditions: Cut FCCL into small pieces and place them in a high-temperature small tin furnace: 288℃103Times

Acceptance standard: The copper foil must be free of delamination, blistering, discoloration and other defects

    2.Peel strength test

      Testing equipment: Peel strength machine

Testing conditions: Etch the copper foil into 3.175mm copper strips, and then use a peel strength machine to peel vertically.

Acceptance standard: 1OZ copper foil requires peel strength ≥1.2KGF/CM, 1/2OZ ≥0.8KGF/CM

      3.Chemical corrosion resistance test

Test chemicals: 10% H2SO4, 10% NaOH are used to soak for 30 minutes at room temperature

Test conditions: No visual discoloration, no delamination and other defects. If necessary, the peel strength needs to be measured. The change in peel strength before and after soaking cannot exceed 0.2KGF/CM

Acceptance standard: No delamination, discoloration, blistering and other defects. The change in peel strength after soaking cannot exceed 0.2KGF/CM

        4.Product thickness detection

Test equipment: micrometer, slice measurement (if necessary)

Test conditions: micrometer measurement, metallographic microscope measurement

Acceptance standard: The difference between the theoretical thickness and the actual thickness should not exceed ±5um to be judged as qualified, or follow the FCCL shipment inspection standard

          5.Dimensional stability test

            Test equipment: secondary element

Testing conditions: Produce FPC through the entire FCCL process, and test the material change rate in each process.

Acceptance standard: ——, reference standard: maximum change rate ≤15%, and must be stable with small fluctuations

            6.Other testing items

Other testing items include: surface resistance, volume resistance, dielectric parameters, dissipation factor, etc. Generally, FPC factories do not perform these tests. They are all commissioned by FCCL manufacturers to qualified laboratories for testing, or tested by themselves.
