Should I choose vcut or stamp hole for PCB panelization?
One-stop PCBA smart manufacturing manufacturer will tell you today why we need to do PCB panelization? Which is better for PCB panelization, stamp hole or V-CUT.
Why do we need to do PCB panelization?
To know which PCB panelization method is better, we must first understand why panelization is done. Panelization is to meet production needs. For example, some customers’ boards are too small, which does not meet the requirements of making fixtures. At this time, multiple boards need to be put together for production. There are also some special-shaped PCB boards. Panelization is also to improve the utilization rate of PCB boards, thereby avoiding waste and reducing costs. When SMT patches are placed, the welding efficiency of SMT patches can be effectively improved.

What are V-CUT and stamp holes?
V-cut refers to the V-shaped dividing line between two single boards and between a single board and the process edge, which is in the shape of a “V”; it is broken and separated after welding.
Stamp holes are in the mainboard panelization. The small boards need to be connected by ribs. In order to facilitate cutting, some small holes will be opened on the ribs, similar to the holes on the edge of stamps.
Which of the two paneling methods, stamp holes and V-CUT, is better?
In fact, each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
When using double-sided V-grooves, the depth of the V-grooves should be controlled at about 1/3 (the sum of the grooves on both sides), and the groove size should be accurate and the depth should be uniform.
When using stamp holes, it should be noted that the overlap should be evenly distributed around each panel to avoid deformation due to uneven force on the PCB board during welding.
The location of the stamp hole should be close to the inside of the PCB board to prevent the burrs remaining at the stamp hole after the panel is separated from the customer’s whole machine assembly.
For irregular PCB boards such as round ones, V-CUT cannot be done, so stamp holes are needed to connect the panels, so stamp holes are more commonly used in special-shaped boards.
